When we connect with water energy in ourselves, we awaken our inner power to slowly, steadily, and gently move toward our goals. We discover how to flow around obstacles and how to clear areas of blocked energy flow in our bodies and our lives. We learn how to flow with the seasons of our lives, and let go of forced productivity and the stress and health problems that accompany it.
Hello everyone.
Welcome to the Energy of Flow.
So glad to have you with me for this session.
If you have not yet grabbed pen and paper, please take a moment to do so.
You can use actual pen and paper, or you can use your computer, your laptop, you can even type
on your phone.
What's important is that you use the writing tools that are comfortable for you during this session.
Today we're talking about the energy of flow and we're going to do a guided visualization to give
us a sense of how the energy of flow is working in our personal lives.
The energy of flow affects our sense of self, our life, and our creativity all in different ways.
Usually in life, we tend to use achievement oriented focus, an achievement oriented practice.
When we are achievement oriented, we're driving toward goals.
We usually use short, intense bursts of energy to get ourselves to where we want to be.
We tend to be very focused on the finish line, on winning, on progress, on measurements.
We might be focused on comparing ourselves to others.
When we're very deeply entrenched in an achievement oriented focus in life, we can block our flow.
We can end up burned out, exhausted, having chronically low energy, and we're not sure why.
When we want to dissolve creative blocks, it's better to shift into a more relationship or oriented
energy.
Relationship oriented energy focuses on the energy exchange, the energy exchange that you have
with other people, that you have with yourself, that you have with your creative work, maybe that
you have with animals or plants or the earth itself.
We can see this kind of energy exchange in water.
That's a really great place to look if you're interested in seeing the energy of exchange in
relationship is in water.
Water is in exchange with everything on our planet.
The ecosystem, the environment.
Every single plant, animal and human on planet Earth is in exchange with water in some way.
So to dissolve blocks in our life, we really want to shift from achievement oriented to relationship
oriented.
And we can connect with the energy of water to do that, to dissolve those creative blocks and to
move us into a smoother and easier energy exchange.
So we're going to do a guided visualization around this concept.
This is not a long visualization.
This is something that's pretty quick and easy.
You can use this in your life at any time.
You don't have to sit down with this video.
Once you learn the basic concept, you can take it anywhere and you can use it to focus on different
areas of your life.
So first of all, please make sure you are in a comfortable space.
If you are in a public space doing this A cafe or a library might be nice to move to a back corner
where it's not so busy.
A little bit quieter.
If you're at home and you're sharing your space with other people, it would be nice to shut the door
of the room you're in.
Make sure that you're somewhere where you will be uninterrupted and things can be relatively
quiet.
And get comfortable.
Feel free to kick off your shoes, loosen any tight clothing.
You can draw the shades, whatever you want to do to get comfortable.
Once you're comfortable, I'd like you to take a moment and close your eyes.
And then take one deep breath.
And then after you take that breath, just let yourself focus on your breath.
Let yourself breathe as deeply as you feel you would like to breathe.
You don't have to do anything special with the breath.
Just notice that you're breathing and notice how you feel in your body.
Notice anything that's coming up for you.
Notice any physical sensations and notice how your energy feels. Overall.
There is no right or wrong, good or bad.
We're just noticing.
We're just grounding into our bodies and noticing how we feel.
And I'd like you to take a moment and connect with your heart.
You can place a hand on your heart.
You can say to yourself, I connect with my heart.
Now, you can do whatever feels comfortable to you, but take a moment, connect with your heart
space.
Once you feel you're connected to your heart, I'd like you to focus on your sense of self.
Imagine your sense of self is a stream of water.
This might be something you visualize, or this might be something that you just intuitively feel into.
But imagine your sense of self as a stream of water.
And I'd like you to ask yourself, where is the source of this stream?
Where does it begin?
Your heart, your mind, your past, your dreams?
Where is the source?
Where's the source of this dream of you?
It might be source or spirit, or the universe, or God, or a higher power.
Or it might be your ancestors, your past, the.
The place that you come from.
Or it might be your current traits, your current goals and desires and dreams.
But where do you source yourself from?
You might not get any clear ideas on this at all.
You might just see an image or get a feeling. That's okay.
Don't push yourself too hard.
Just ask yourself, where is the source?
And then I'd like you to connect to the strength of the flow.
How strong is the flow of this stream?
Does it feel very strong?
Does it feel more like a Trickle.
Does it feel like it changes from day to day?
How strong is the flow of the stream?
The sense of yourself?
Do you notice anything else about the water?
Do you notice anything else in general?
Any colors, any shapes?
Again, any images coming up?
Any sensations in your body?
There is no right or wrong, no good or bad, just gathering information.
What do you notice?
See it, feel into it.
When you feel like you have some idea of what you're seeing or feeling, I'd like you to open your
eyes and pause this video and take some time to write down everything that you saw and felt.
Take as much time as you need and when you're ready, resume the video.
Welcome back, everyone.
I hope that you enjoyed writing down everything that you saw and felt about the stream.
That was your sense of self.
I'd like you to get comfortable again, close your eyes, breathe and connect to your heart.
Whatever you just wrote down, whatever you were seeing or feeling, you can gently detach from
that and let it go.
And take a few deep breaths and come to the here and now.
Take a moment to connect with your heart.
Take a moment to connect with your energy.
When you feel ready, I'd like you to take a moment to focus on your life, your present
circumstances, your present relationships, and your present state of health.
You don't have to think about each one.
If one is standing out as more important than all the other areas, that's fine.
Your present circumstances, your present relationships, and your present state of health.
The overall picture of your life right now.
And I'd like you to imagine that your life is a river.
Imagine that your life is a river.
Your relationships, your circumstances, your state of health that might include your job or your
career, any trips you're going to take or that you've just taken, any activities or hobbies you're
immersed in.
All of it. I'd like you to imagine this whole package of your life as a river.
What are the qualities of this river?
Again, just take a moment and see it, feel into it.
Is it a fast river or is it a slow river?
Is it a calm river or is it a turbulent river?
Does it have a lot of twists and turns or is it relatively straight?
Where is it going?
Take a moment and feel into that.
Where is the river of your life going?
Where is it flowing to?
Where is it flowing to?
Do you notice anything else about the water?
Do you notice anything else about the flow?
See it, feel into it.
And again, anything that comes up is valuable.
Any images, any sensations in the body.
You don't have to make sense of what you're seeing or feeling.
It doesn't have to connect into a story, just let it be what it is.
And when you feel like you are seeing and feeling something of value, something meaningful to
you, I'd like you to open your eyes, grab your pen and paper or your laptop, pause this video and
write down everything that you saw and felt during this exercise.
When you're ready, you can resume the video.
Welcome back.
I hope that you enjoyed writing down everything that you saw and felt about the river of your life.
We're going to do one last visualization again.
Please get comfortable and close your eyes and take a deep breath.
Everything you just saw, felt, wrote down, recorded.
I'd like you to breathe into that and then let it go.
You can come back to it later, but right now, I'd like you to pull all of your pieces into the present to
right here and now.
Take a moment and connect with your heart again.
You can place a hand on your heart, or you can say to yourself, I connect with my heart.
Now you can breathe into your heart, whatever feels right to you.
When you feel that you've connected with your heart, I'd like you to focus on your creativity, your
creative power.
Focus on your creative ideas, your creative hopes, your creative dreams.
What do you want for yourself?
What do you want to create in the world?
What do you want to build?
What do you want to make?
What do you want to share with other people?
How do you want to express yourself?
I'd like you to imagine that your creative power is an ocean.
Imagine that your creative power is an ocean.
What do you see or feel when you think about this ocean?
Does this ocean move according to its own natural rhythm?
Does it move through gently rolling waves?
Or is it more of a stormy sea?
How big is this ocean?
Can you feel the power of it?
Take a moment and open your heart and feel into the power of the ocean that you are seeing and
feeling.
The ocean of your creative power.
This is your creative power.
This is all yours.
You can use this power to build anything, to create anything, to make anything, to share.
Anything that feels good to you, that feels right, that feels like it comes from your heart.
Notice what you're seeing.
Notice what you're feeling.
Notice what's coming up for you, Any images, any sensations in the body.
Maybe even song lyrics or words, different phrases. Maybe a memory.
When you're ready, when you feel like enough has surfaced for you, you'd like to write it down,
please open your eyes and pause the video.
I'd like you to write down everything that you saw and felt.
And when you're ready, you can resume the video.
Welcome back, everyone.
I'd like you to close your eyes one final time.
Take one final deep breath.
Connect to your heart again.
And I'd like you to review everything that came up for you today.
The images, the words, the epiphanies, the truth.
Everything that came up for you.
The light and the dark.
And I'd like you to take a moment and honor that.
Honor everything that you saw and felt today in your visions, in your feelings, honor your sense of
self, honor your life, and honor your creative power.
Just take a moment and breathe into that that you are honoring your sense of self.
You are honoring your life, and you are honoring your creative power as you breathe into that.
I'd like you to also give thanks for these gifts.
Give thanks to yourself.
Give thanks to anyone in your life that supports you.
And give thanks to the universe.
And take a moment to see that you are a beautiful, brilliant, powerful, creative being.
You are in flow with yourself.
You are in flow with your life.
You are in flow with your creative power.
And you can revisit these visions.
And you can revisit this kind of flow anytime you need it.
You can open up this energy in your life anytime you want to call on it.
Take one more deep breath.
You can open your eyes.
Thank you so much, everyone for being with me today.
It was such a gift to be in relationship with you as you discovered your creative power and your
creative gifts through the energy of flow.
Lauren Sapala intensively coached writers for five years before she discovered one of the biggest obstacles holding them back: a rock-solid resistance to marketing. Regardless of the wealth of marketing tools and resources available to writers and artists today, most highly creative people still feel suspicious, confused, or just plain turned off by marketing and sales. The hidden reason behind this resistance is a deeply rooted fear that marketing always results in a loss of integrity for the writer.
Almost all highly creative people are also Highly Sensitive People, and Highly Sensitive Writers feel this possible threat to their integrity intensely. The fear they feel around marketing more often than not takes root in limiting beliefs that shut them down before they even begin. Lauren Sapala shares stories and strategies to help Highly Sensitive Writers shift their mindset and open up to new ways to promote their work. She helps all writers realize that—due to their Highly Sensitive nature—they might just make the best salespeople of all.
